What Is MICA?
The Monument of Faith Evangelistic Church Ministries has reached another milestone in its history with the implantation of the rebirth of Monument International Church Assemblies, Inc. (M.I.C.A.).
M.I.C.A. is a Christian Association of baptized, spirit-filled leaders organized on June 26, 1999, under the leadership of Apostle Richard D. Henton. Apostle Henton was the founder of the Monument of Faith Church and the R.D. Henton Breakthrough Ministries.
Our founder, Apostle Richard D. Henton, went home to be with the Lord in October 2015, and the mantle was passed to his son, Apostle Mark A. Henton. In 2016 God gave the call to birth M.I.C.A. through this man of God.
The association is designed to assist pastors in fulfilling their assignments and duties to their communities. Our goal is to help pastors, co-pastors, and administrators be more effective by providing information, services, products, fellowship, and special workshops conducted by Apostle Dr. Mark A. Henton and the clergy staff. We realize that people perish for a lack of knowledge, as stated in Hosea 4:6; therefore, we endeavor to give pastors access to information which is the source of knowledge.
MICA was formed to assist pastors by helping them serve their communities more effectively.
Statement of Faith
Apostle Richard Daniel Henton
Called to the ministry on December 14, 1948, Apostle Richard D. Henton was one of the most dynamic pastors and evangelists in Chicago and across the United States. He founded Monument of Faith Evangelistic Church in Chicago with just 16 members in 1964. Its first location, 6848 S. Racine, the old Rex Theater had been unoccupied for several years. Apostle Henton along with his team of workers transformed this abandoned building into a beautiful venue for ministry.
The church moved to its second address 7359 S. Chappel. It was at this location that the ministry catapulted its mission to transform lives, fostering and developing life skills while leading the congregation on a spiritual journey.
Monument of Faith took its next leap of faith when it moved to its current location at 2750 W. Columbus Avenue. With over 40 years of serving the inner city of Chicago behind the work that was to continue. The ministry grew to over 5,000 members with more than 15 outreach ministries that ranged from Women's Ministry to Homeless Ministry to Youth Ministry.
Dr. Henton was a faithful pastor, but still to many he was known as their "TV Evangelist". His weekly Breakthrough Hour telecast reached thousands, as did his revivals in other cities including Chicago, where more than 10,000 people come to UIC Pavilion to hear him. He has been the keynote speaker for many ministries: "The Promise Keepers", Bishop T.D. Jakes, Azusa with Bishop Carlton Pearson, Morris Cerullo, Bishop O.T. Jones, Sr., Rev. R.W. Shambach, The late Bishop Gilbert E. Patterson, Bishop Charles Blake, Morehouse, and many others to name a few.
Dr. Henton acquired three (3) Doctorate of Divinity Degrees and has been the recipient of numerous certificates of merit, letters from presidents, given the keys to many cities, and honored by congressmen and dignitaries alike.
Dr. Henton was a family man and the father of six children, three of whom are deceased. His only living son, Apostle Mark A. Henton followed in his footsteps and is now pastoring the church.
On October 22, 2015, Apostle Henton went home to be with the Lord. His legacy still lives on.
The Vision
Pastors, Co-Pastors, and Administrators worldwide will acquire wisdom, knowledge, and a sound biblical world perspective as evidenced by a lifestyle of Christian character, leadership, service, stewardship, and worship.
To support, build and inspire church ministries by aiding in their preparation and assisting pastors in reaching their spiritual and financial goals established for serving their community.
Who Is Our Apostle?
Apostle Mark Anthony Henton comes from a legacy of anointed preachers. He is a third-generation pastor and has been ordained by God to lead the people of God to the next dimension of purpose, power, and prosperity. The son of the legendary trailblazer Apostle Richard D. Henton and the grandson of Pastor/Evangelist Amelia Anderson, he was destined to carry on the work assigned to this lineage.
His ministerial journey began in 1978 when he accepted the call to preach at the tender age of 18. His service continued as he became the youth Pastor of the Monument of Faith Evangelistic Church in 1981. This passion ignited a strong youth ministry. Over the course of 18 years in this role, it was clear that his fire could not be quenched. The flames of this fire were sparked by the powerful move of God during the all-night prayer service on Friday nights. This medium would be the catalyst for reaching young people throughout Chicago and its vicinity, allowing them to experience the power of God, the working of miracles, deliverance, and souls saved through this young willing vessel.
He was later ordained by Apostle Richard Henton in 1984. During which he perpetuated his divine purpose through an effective evangelistic ministry. During this time, he began showing signs of leadership and collaboration with peers by co-founding "COPS" (Coalition of Pastor's Sons), a monthly fellowship of sons of pastors that produced conferences, rallies, and youth services. In addition to a vibrant evangelistic ministry where God has utilized him throughout this nation, teaching and preaching the word of God, God inspired him to begin another work.
In 1999 Apostle Mark's journey changed course. He organized M.I.C.A. (Monument International Church Assemblies). He served as executive director while his father, Apostle R. D. Henton, was the presiding prelate. In 2001, he began his journey as a pastor, and the Monument Center of Life Church was birthed.
He flourished in his duties there, and after serving 13 years in this capacity, God added to his ministry.
In 2011, he began serving as co-pastor of God's House of All Nations after the passing of Bishop Charles Little. The continued submission and obedience propelled him forward, and his journey again took on a new course. In May 2014, he was installed as Pastor of the historic Monument of Faith Evangelistic Church, where his dad, Apostle Richard D. Henton, was the founder and pastor for over 50 years
Although his ministry is full of experience, Apostle Mark’s academic matriculation began with the Chicago Public Schools. Then with the Chicago Bible College and Logos Bible College. He's the recipient of two honorary Doctoral Degrees and has been presented with numerous awards for his service in ministry.
He has been the keynote speaker for a vast number of venues, churches, and universities, always spreading the message of hope, faith, and deliverance. Furthermore, he is an anointed man of God with a genuine love for God’s people and a reachable personality that appeals to this generation. Likewise, he remains rooted and grounded in the foundational teachings of holiness and is determined to continue to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.
In addition to being a beloved pastor, he is a devoted family man with his wife, Grace LaJoy Little-Henton, four beautiful daughters, and four grandchildren. He is yet driven and focused on fulfilling the work God has placed before him.
"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me. Because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord."
(Luke 4:18,19)
